Swiss Medtech Expo symposium imparts practical expertise
At the Swiss Medtech Expo symposium, experts will shed light on current trends, technologies, and applications in medical technology. Visitors will gain first-hand knowledge in thematically structured blocks.
The Swiss Medtech Expo symposium offers a multifaceted program on both days. In thematically structured blocks, experts will discuss current developments, challenges, and opportunities in medical technology. The program items address relevant issues along the entire value chain, from development and production to sustainable implementation.
Innovations for tomorrow's medical technology
The symposium will open on Tuesday with the theme «Smart Design & Engineering». This theme places people at the center of product development and shows how design and functionality can be meaningfully combined. In the keynote speech «Simple – because it suits people», Silvia Rohner from OST – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences explains how user-centered design can be used to develop solutions that are simple yet effective.
The second block of the day will focus on intelligent manufacturing. The focus will be on aspects such as digitization, cost efficiency, automation, and robotization. Afterwards, various speakers will present the ideas behind their smart products: from an AI-supported risk management tool to low-latency measurement data acquisition and a new method for monitoring cardiovascular health. Among other things, the focus will be on the collection, processing, and use of data.
At the end of the day, the potential of artificial intelligence for medical technology will be discussed: Among other things, experts from research, clinics, and industry will take part in a panel discussion to answer the question of how artificial intelligence can be used responsibly and effectively. In addition to technical applications, ethical issues will also be addressed.
Sustainable solutions for the future
On the second day, the topic of «sustainability» will be given plenty of attention. Various presentations will showcase concrete examples of environmentally conscious and economically viable medtech production. Barbara Mettler from Swiss Medtech will also present the roadmap for decarbonizing the medtech industry. This roadmap offers practical approaches to reducing emissions – from efficient building technology and the use of renewable energies to low-carbon mobility.
The next block will address the topic of «Additive manufacturing in medical technology». In his keynote speech, Professor Florian M. Thieringer from the University Hospital Basel will show how mixed reality, artificial intelligence, and 3D printing are revolutionizing everyday clinical practice in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University Hospital Basel. He will also explain what the operating room of the future will look like and what aspects of it are already a reality today.
Finally, practical solutions for clinical integration and regulatory issues will be discussed. The presentations will address topics such as the use of tissue phantoms in anesthesia, the strategic design of management systems, and current challenges in market access and CE marking.
Deepen your knowledge and make contacts
The Swiss Medtech Expo symposium not only offers knowledge, but also the opportunity for personal exchange. After almost every topic block, there is a «Meet the speakers» session where interested parties can discuss what they have heard with the speakers. The Swiss Medtech Expo thus creates an ideal setting for making new contacts, discussing current challenges, and working together on solutions for the future.
Attendance at the symposium is included in the trade fair ticket.
