Modeling and Simulation for Medical Devices

Computational simulations are being extensively used to guide the development and application of medical devices and technology. The advent of multiphysics simulation capability has expanded the scope of problems that can be successfully simulated such that greater insight can now be provided to scientists, engineers and clinicians.

Here the use of in silico simulations as a replacement for traditional in vitro and in vivo approaches will be discussed and examples of the use of multiphysics simulations to demonstrate technical viability, accelerate product development, increase patient safety and optimize manufacturing technology presented.
